Seven men stood out in the crowd of hundreds at a regular free Christian concert at the Harbor the evening of Oct. 24.
“Who are they?” people asked, adding, “What are they doing here?”
“Look there is a gang, mommy” said a young girl.
“I thought the Sturgis motorcycle rally ended months ago,” someone else said.
By the end of the night, they stood out, but everyone was standing with them in support of a 3-year-old girl.
The Blood Brothers are a Christian brotherhood who combine their Christian faith, love for motorcycles, and their passion to serve, into a unique combination of “tough love.” Two are from Rockwall, and they rallied their brothers from the Denton area, to ride out to raise money for the local family of Lisa Jane Adams.
Lisa Jane is a 3-year old who was diagnosed in April with leukemia. She is the daughter of Matt and Nikki Adams, and sister of Sam Adams.
“Bills are already overwhelming this young local family,” said Dave Gregorio, Blood Brother of Rockwall.
“As seems typical for this group of ‘rolling disciples’,” as Gregorio described them, once they heard about the need during one of their monthly chapter meetings, the group felt called to put their faith in motion and do something.
They believe they are “spirit led”, and were led to The Harbor Christian concert to raise funds on Lisa’s behalf.
They rolled in, set up a table, and started sharing Lisa’s story with all who would listen.
Gregorio said folks were a bit “apprehensive at first when approached by a burley biker asking for money,” but the audience quickly caught on. The donations surpassed the biker group’s goal, reaching nearly $1,000.
According to Trent Westerfield, one of the Rockwall blood brothers also known as T-Rent, “this will help out with Lisa’s weekly meds for a least a few weeks.”
The Blood Brothers worked hard to raise funds, especially Sean Gregorio, the 10-year old son of one of the Blood Brothers. In addition , their other interest was to point people to Lisa’s Web site in order to track her progress and stay aware of future needs.
“I have a feeling that we will be seeing more of these guys around Rockwall as they put their faith into action and serve our community in their unique and refreshing way,”
